Gardenia ‘Crown Jewel’
Gardenia = ‘Crown Jewel’
Gardenia augusta ‘Crown Jewel’, is a highly fragrant, white dwarf that blooms twice a year, survives cold winters and flowers prolifically. ‘Crown Jewel’ combines two breeds, the Kleim’s Hardy and the Chuck Hayes, and marries their best features. The plant has the Kleim’s Hardy’s dwarf size and prolific flowering, and the cold hardiness and double-bloom of the Chuck Hayes. The breeder’s current work is focused on creating distinctive cold-hardy gardenias with double blooms and disease and insect resistance.
