Dianthus Dessert™ Series Blooms of the Whetman® Dessert™ Series look good enough to eat! These Dianthus have compact mounding foliage, typically 10” to 14” in height and spread at peak bloom time. Foliage is fine and generally glaucous. Flowers held 6” above foliage. Day neutral and perpetually flowering, these have the best display in early spring, but plants will continue to flower sporadically in summer and often quite heavily in fall. Vernalization is not necessary. Growers may appreciate a season extender as these Dianthus can be held at cool temperatures, almost as if in storage! This series also displays excellent vigor and disease resistance. Ideal for use as a front of the border perennial or in mixed containers. ‘Cranberry Ice’: Intricately patterned pink flowers with a fuchsia-purple eye and a matching picotee, pinked edge.
